PIGMENT REGULATOR

January 9th, 2012 • Posted by SkinCeuticals • Permalink

It's a great time of year to correct sun damaged skin. With less outdoor exposure, it's an optimal time to use more assertive products that help brighten and even skin's tone. SkinCeuticals Pigment Regulator is one of several products that work hard to correct photo damaged skin in as little as 4-6 weeks!

Proven as effective as the leading medical standard for treating hyper pigmentation, Pigment Regulator lightens and reduces existing hyper pigmentation, improves overall skin tone, and protects skin from future discolorations without the potentially harmful side-effects of harsh bleaching agents.

*Reduces brown spots, freckles, dark patches, and blotchiness
*Improves overall skin tone for a brighter, more radiant appearance
*Prevents future discolorations
*May be used daily, year-round, long term, without unhealthy side effects

You Are What You Eat

January 5th, 2012 • Posted by Libby Vengrow • Permalink

There is no better time than the start of the New Year to get motivated to eat a healthier diet. One of the added benefits (besides looking and feeling better!) is how great the appearance of your skin can look. There are four ways diet can affect your skin- elasticity, texture, brightness, and clarity:

•Elasticity: If you aren’t drinking enough water your skin will not be as hydrated, which can upset the elasticity of your skin. A lack of elasticity will greatly affect how well your skin can repair itself. In addition, your body’s health and well-being depend on your water intake. The lymphatic system -- which eliminates waste and brings nutrients to every cell in your body -- depends on proper water consumption. Without it, you’re delaying the waste disposal from happening which can result in a puffy and dull complexion.

•Texture: Skin health can be maintained by the intake of many different nutrients. There are a few nutrients that are known for being especially beneficial. Vitamin A (found in dairy products, egg yolks, organ meats, dark orange and dark green fruits and vegetables) can prevent the skin from becoming dry, scaly and rough. Essential fatty acids found in vegetable oils, nuts, seeds and fish help to support cell membrane health. There is also the mineral selenium, found in mushrooms, nuts, whole grains, onions and many fish, that is also beneficial to skin health.

•Brightness: The consumption of dark leafy greens is vital to how your skin will look. Vegetables such as spinach and kale have certain nutrients that you cannot get anywhere else, and without them your skin can look dull and lifeless. Most people try to stay away from certain foods (think soda and junk food), but forget that what you DON’T eat is even worse for your skin. Every meal should contain a fruit or veggie, and for people who want especially glowing skin “juicing” is always a great option.

•Clarity: Did you ever wonder why experts always said to stay away from junk food because it can cause your skin to breakout? The reason why is because your skin is a backup filter for your digestive system. If your body cannot properly digest food its next step will be to push it out through your pores…this can cause blemishes, rashes, and an overall unhealthy complexion.

With the combination of a balanced diet and a skin care routine, your skin will be healthy and glowing in no time!

Getting a massage can do you a world of good, but getting massages frequently can do even more. This is the beauty of bodywork! Taking part in this form of regularly scheduled self-care can play a huge part in how healthy you will be and how youthful you will remain feeling with each passing year. Budgeting time and money for bodywork at consistent intervals is truly an investment in your health. And remember: just because massage feels like a pampering treat doesn’t mean it is any less therapeutic. Consider massage appointments a necessary piece of your health and wellness plan, and work with your practitioner to establish a treatment schedule that best meets your needs.
